5 of 52 of 2023

This past week Dan turned 52. We didn't do anything big. He wanted Phil's BBQ for dinner. Hannah and I (but mostly Hannah) made a vanilla spice cake for him. The kids made him gifts.

This week was a short week but it felt the longest. I had a huge presentation on Friday that I was preparing for all week. It paid off. The deployment lead was impressed with my presentation and the level of detail I had in my deck. I was pretty proud of it and so relieved its over with. Now I just need to focus on surviving this week then I'll be home for 3 weeks.

3 of 52 of 2023

This week was a very busy week. It was my first week back to work and it was a cluster fuck. There is a frenzy of stress over the program I'm part of and it got the best of me. Next week will be much of the same because the deployment lead is very demanding and very much interested in the details of every aspect of the deployment.
The highlight of this week was seeing that Hannah received 10 PAWS awards so far this year. We are super proud of her. Tyler has been doing great too. He's striving to put his best foot forward in his academics and it's really paying off. He's doing awesome.

I was off work for this week to spend time with the kids before they went back to school on Thursday.
On Monday, we made good on our promise to take Hannah back to Julian. It was crowded with tourists so it wasn't as enjoyable as we would have liked. We visited the jail, checked out the school (which was closed), had lunch at the Julian beer company then we had pie at Mom's pie company. On Tuesday, I took the kids shopping at Tillys and Target where they spent their own monies.
Wednesday we chilled. Hannah and I went to moms to check in on her and do some light yard work. The boys stayed home.
Thursday I fixed the living room walls. I patched up the holes, applied knock down then painted it. I ended up painting the majority of the entry way.
On Friday, I took the Christmas lights down and packed away most of the Christmas things. Then Dan and I had sushi at our favorite place in town Oishi Sushi.
Saturday, Ralph left and I headed over to moms to clean. Jim is staying the night. I start my 2 week stay at moms on Sunday. Im not looking forward to it at all. I have a very busy 2 weeks at work too.

1 of 52 of 2023

Today is the first day of 2023. Danny and Hannah stayed up until the ball dropped. Tyler went down around 1030p and I hung on until 1115p.
I hope 2023 will be better than 2022 but I won't be holding my breath.
Let's see, this past week Ed and family went home. And Tyler and Hannah experienced Korean BBQ for the first time. They both enjoyed and even ate beef tongue. They are more daring than me.
