5 of 52 for 2021

This week mother nature decided she wanted to bless us with winter weather all in a 2 weeks time.  We had some very crazy rainy days this week. Started with extremely windy conditions that turned to ghetto snow (aka hail).
The biggest highlight of the week was Dan's 50th birthday. We made him green chili stew and got him a cake from Bundt Cakes.  We tried to make the best of a quarantine birthday. If we weren't in a pandemic we would be in Vegas celebrating our milestone birthdays among friends.
A low light of the week was mom falling last night. The reason: she didn't pull up her panties all the way.  They were around her thighs. When she tried to get in bed she lost balance because of your ill worn panties and she fell backwards. She has a nice sized bruise in the middle of her back where she hit the rollator as she fell backwards.  She has fallen at least once a month since October. I am keeping a daily record of when she's uses the restroom, misses her med dose, her BP (hoping to take it every other day) and notes of things I'm seeing. There will come a time where I will need to stay with her thru the night. I'm hoping that is still years away but my gut tells me it's more like months away especially if she continues to fall each month.
Next week maybe I'll share what my daily routine is.

4 of 52 for 2021

I went thru some old photos at mom's house and came across this gem.  I don't have very many pictures from when I was a little girl so finding these gems are special.
I've been going through mom's house cleaning up as much as I can to clear things out and find the important paper we will need when she's gone.
We were able to host Thanksgiving and Christmas lunch at mom's.  We haven't seen the counter tops since ... I don't even know when. I don't actually remember a time when the counter was clear.  Slowly the house is clearing up...something I know my dad wanted for the better part of his days living in the house. I hope he's proud of the progress we're making.

3 of 52 for 2021

I'm a late on this post. But better late than never. Let's see what happened the past week.  The highlight of the past week was visiting dad.  I'm trying to take mom every Sunday to see dad so she can get out of the house. Last Sunday was a bit windy so mom's hood kept fall down. The kids were trying everything to keep it on her head. They even tried to pinch it in mom's eye glasses.

2 of 52 for 2021

This week we embarked on having one fast food meal a week instead of the 3 to 4 fast food meals.  The boys kicked off this idea in hopes to lose some weight.  By default, us girls, had to follow suit.  I'll say, for the first week, it wasn't so bad.  We created a menu for the week so we could buy everything we needed which helped us keep to the menu and kept the guess work out of what we would be having for dinner each night.
Tyler has been great with expanding the types of foods he eats. We are hoping we can have him add more foods to his list of likes.  We will see how long he can stick to the plan and try new foods each week.  Hannah has been great with encouraging him to try and finish his food too.  I'm cautiously optimistic this could be a break thru for us.

1 of 52 of 2021

We said goodbye to 2020 in the penthouse of Capri by the Sea.  We had a corner unit 12 floors up with the most amazing views of Pacific and Mission beach and of downtown San Diego. This was the first and last trip of 2020.
I spent 4 glorious days with my family uninterrupted.  It was the getaway we all needed.  We had absolutely no plans to be anywhere so we were able to do what we wanted. The kids loved it.
We are all hoping for a better 2021!
